With the acquisition of ShoreTel by Mitel, Mitel leaders now control the product release lifecycle of ShoreTel products. The End of Life date for ShoreTel version 14.2 is approaching quickly - September 30, 2020.
Mitel has released a Product Lifecycle Table, which provides information on end of sale and end of life dates. The sale of new ShoreTel 14.2 products ended in April of 2018. Initially, the end of life was scheduled for December 31, 2019; however, there was an extension. The revised end of life is scheduled for September 30, 2020.
So what does this mean for the ShoreTel 14.2 user? The end of life date means that Mitel will only provide "best effort technical support for catastrophic failures and critical issues only."
What Are My Options?
The best option for current Shoretel 14.2 users is migration to Mitel Connect Client. This application is reliable, secure and easy to use while providing a complete suite of UCC functionality to enhance your workforce productivity.
Mitel offers three types of products:
- Mitel Connect ONSITE: Owner maintains and operates this system.
- Mitel Connect HYBRID: Combines the benefits of CLOUD and ONSITE deployments.
- Mitel Connect CLOUD: Modern UCaaS solution.
ShoreTel customers who migrate to Mitel Connect Client will enjoy many benefits including easy scalability, rich features and improved integrations. Mitel Connect enhances the customer experience with its integrations to the Mitel Contact Center as well as with applications such as Google Docs, Chrome AutoDialer and Outlook. Online meetings are more effective with video and web sharing options. With the need for mobility, Mitel Connect integrates desk phones with mobile devices.
